Texas Instruments bq25872EVM-813 Charger Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments bq25872EVM-813 Charger Evaluation Module (EVM) is a complete charger module for evaluating the bq25872. The bq25872 is a highly-integrated battery switch in WCSP package for 1 cell Li-Ion and Li-polymer batteries. The module includes test points for all signals available for testing purposes. The module also includes jumpers for different circuit configurations. The bq25872EVM-813 does not include the EV2300 or EV2400 (EV2x00) interface board. To use the module an EV2x00 interface board must be ordered separately.

Required Equipment

  • Power Supplies
    • One power supply capable of supplying 5V at 1.5A (or above) is required
    • While this part can handle larger voltage and current, it is not necessary for this procedure
  • Load
    • A 4-quadrant supply, constant voltage < 4.5V
    • A 0–20V/0–6A, > 30W system, DC electronic load and setting as constant voltage load mode or
    • A Kepco loadBOP 20–5M, DC 0 to ±20V, 0 to ±5A (or higher), or equivalent
  • Meters
    • Six Fluke 75 multimeters, (equivalent or better) or
    • Four equivalent voltage meters and two equivalent current meters
    • The current meters must be capable of measuring 5A+ current
  • Computer
    • A computer with at least one USB port and a USB cable
    • The bq2587xEVM evaluation software must be properly installed (bqStudio)
  • EV2x00 Communication Kit
    • The EV2x00 USB-based PC interface board
