CAPTIVATE-PHONE Demonstration Board

Texas Instruments CAPTIVATE-PHONE Demonstration Board is a simple evaluation platform for mutual capacitance capacitive touch sensors using a variety of configurations. The sensor panel demonstrates how to matrix mutual capacitance touch sensors for high-density and low-pin counts. This feature showcases the recommended layout for mutual capacitance slider and wheel sensors. The Texas Instruments CAPTIVATE-PHONE panel also demonstrates how to implement a guard channel to prevent false touch detections due to palm or cleaning cloth. The haptic driver and actuator are included to provide vibrational feedback to the user when touches are detected.

DRV2605L Haptic Drivers

Texas Instruments DRV2605L Haptic Drivers are a low-voltage haptic driver that includes a haptic-effect library and provides a closed-loop actuator-control system for high-quality haptic feedback for ERM and LRA. This schema helps improve actuator performance in terms of acceleration consistency, start time, and brake time and is accessible through a shared I2C compatible bus or PWM input signal. The Texas Instruments DRV2605L offers a licensed version of TouchSense 2200 software from Immersion that eliminates the need to design haptic waveforms because the software includes over 100 licensed effects (6 ERM libraries and 1 LRA library) and audio-to-vibe features. Additionally, the real-time playback mode allows the host processor to bypass the library playback engine and play waveforms directly from the host through I2C.

Texas Instruments MSP430FR263x / MSP430FR253x Ultra-Low-Power Microcontrollers are FRAM-based ultra-low-power MSP microcontrollers that feature CapTIvate touch technology. These are designed for buttons, sliders, wheels (BSW), and proximity applications. CapTIvate technology provides the highest resolution capacitive-touch solution in the market with high reliability and noise immunity at the lowest power. CapTIvate technology supports concurrent self-capacitance and mutual-capacitance electrodes on the same design for maximum flexibility. Using the CapTIvate Design Center, engineers can quickly develop BSW applications with an easy-to-use GUI.
