Analog Devices Inc. ADPL83200 Low Loss PowerPath™ Controller

Analog Devices ADPL83200 Low-Loss PowerPath™ Controller operates an external P-channel MOSFET to provide near-ideal diode behavior for power switchover or load sharing. This control feature enables highly efficient ORing of multiple power sources, extending battery life and reducing self-heating. During operation, the voltage drop across the Metal-Oxide Semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) is typically 20mV.

For applications with a wall adapter or other auxiliary power source, the load is automatically disconnected from the battery when the auxiliary source is connected. Two or more ADI ADPL83200 controllers can be interconnected to enable load sharing across multiple batteries or to charge various batteries from a single charger.

The ADPL83200 is housed in a low-profile (1mm) ThinSOT package.
