MLCC Replacement Solutions

KEMET KOCAP Tantalum Polymer Capacitors are ideal for board space savings, a piezo noise-free environment, high capacitance, long stable life performance, and/or lower profile requirements. Tantalum polymer capacitors are selected over other capacitor technologies when application voltages are less than 50V, capacitance needs are between 1µF to 1mF, and application frequencies are below 1MHz. Since replacing ceramic capacitors with tantalum polymer capacitors is not typically one-for-one, designers need to consider several design requirements as outlined in the schematic below.

Solid Tantalum Capacitors

KEMET Solid Tantalum Capacitors are a high-reliability Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) family of capacitors that provide very low ESR and high surge current capabilities. These surface-mount MnO2 capacitors cover a range of applications, including industrial, automotive, defense, and space-grade options.

T494 Industrial-Grade Tantalum Capacitors

KEMET T494 Industrial-Grade Tantalum Capacitors offer a lower ESR than the T491 series and are designed for highly automated surface-mount processes and equipment. KEMET T494 capacitors offer 100% matte tin as a standard termination and provide excellent wetting characteristics and compatibility with surface-mount solder systems. Other features include capacitance values of 0.1µF to 1,000µF, a voltage rating of 2.5VDC to 50VDC, low-profile cases, and an operating temperature range -55°C to +125°C.
